Seeing complementaries in doing social works, the HBU and KUDOS (Kabataan Union for Developed and Organized Society) in Cabatuan, the latter as headed by Mr. Cliff Jim Gallego, has formed a partnership.

KUDOS' team supports the HBU in clothes collection, in return HBU will share 50% of the sales proceed relating to particular clothes and other items as collected by KUDOS.  KUDOS' net share of the sales proceed will be used to support its own initiative and project activities, in which currently some livelihood project support to its members.

HBU also acknowledges the volunteer efforts of KUDOS' members at the HBU kiosk during the Cabatuan Town Fiesta Trade Fair 2010.

Encouraging active participation in the site

Our members are encouraged to participate in any board discussions here so as your thoughts will be greatly considered when we implement activities for our NGO.

This is a very participatory approach in managing the NGO activities so as it will show that we all 'own' this initiative.

Sale of second hand clothes is patronised

Posted by Himakas-Binuligay-Uswag Association Inc. on June 23, 2010 at 11:51 AM Comments comments (0)

A number of instances where some items, especially second hand clothes, when well-liked by our poor community member(s), the sale is put on hold and on reservation until a member would receive a salary to buy the item.

This is a clear proof that the donated clothes are really of great help to some of our poor colleagues.

Please donate more as you are directly helping others to avail of very low-priced items and proceeds of the sale you are also helping us to carry out this initiative sustainably.

First beneficiary of HBU

Posted by Himakas-Binuligay-Uswag Association Inc. on June 23, 2010 at 11:43 AM Comments comments (0)

As the NGO activities are now picking up on its operations, the first beneficiary of our NGO will be named very soon, with a grant of one thousand pesos (P1,000) coming directly from the operational sales of the store (i.e. especially coming from proceeds on sale of clothes, DVD/VCD rental, eload and school supplies).

We will limit the award of grants at this early stage of operations so as we can keep the amount needed for foundation registration but this one instance of giving a grant should be a good sign that our objective can be met.

This first grant should be an inspiration for further many grants to be given in the future.

The beneficiary will be involved in the selling of vegetables and other food items within the local community.

It is very interesting to note that new joiners and members of this site are more of friends currently living and working outside of the Philippines.

Let's encourage more friends who are currently in the Philippines to actively support us on this initiative.
